Grimsby Town parody issues warning tweet wins Internet – fan responses

Grimsby Town play all their home games at Blundell Park. In fact, a strange quirk of geography sees them playing all their ‘home’ games ‘away’, as their ground is technically in neighbouring Cleethorpes.

That’s what a Town-supporting fan once told me, I was never sure of its validity to be quite honest. I mean, the lad that told me that snippet was a renowned bullsh…wind-up merchant.

Anyway, that was at the time when Clive Mendonca was playing for the Mariners – he even had me paint him the Subbuteo figure in the current kit. They’ve suffered the heartache of dropping out of the main league structure, as well as the joys of regaining their place in the top four divisions again.

Currently they ply their trade in Sky Bet League Two. That’s where they will be playing next season as the are currently winning their last home/away game 2-0 against Crewe Alexandra thanks to first-half goals from Harry Davis and Joe Grayson.

That’s where they are destined to finish up this season, 17th position, as they cannot overtake Cheltenham Town in the place above them. Knowledge of this has caused a Grimsby Town parody account to issue the following warning on Twitter:
