U18s in FA Youth Cup Action at Gillingham
Friday, 11th Jan 2019 10:59

The Blues’ U18s are in FA Youth Cup fourth round action against Gillingham at the Priestfield Stadium this evening (KO 7pm). The winners of the tie will face Southampton or Watford away in the next round.

The youngsters, who are coached by Adem Atay and Kieron Dyer, beat non-league Andover Town 4-0 in their third round tie at Portman Road last month.

The Gills won 2-1 away at Blackburn in the third round having beaten AFC Wimbledon 3-1 and Cheltenham 4-0, also on their travels, in the previous rounds.

Town have won the competition on three occasions, in 1973, 1975 and most recently in 2005.

Lambert has said about nailing down the youngsters and not being a stepping stone for other clubs. Let's hope the club are nailing down some of these lads. Brown looks good and I agree Gibbs is another we need to get long term commitment from. Getting these kids signed early will keep many other clubs away as they would have to pay large compensation to get them from us. I don't think we committed early enough regarding Kinght (Man City) and Brown (Chelsea) in the passed so let's learn from our mistakes.
